Restaurant Options within a close
driving distance (5 minutes to ½ hour)
Chestertown-
The Friends Lake Inn* 518-494-4751 is
very close. They have a fine dining menu and
great wine list in the historic main dining
room and they offer a light menu in the
Bistro.
Main St Ice Cream*, is the
quintessential luncheon spot but they also
serve an additional entrée or 2 in the
evening. Be sure to save room for dessert!
OP Fredericks has casual fare, burgers and
such but also nice pasta, chicken and beef
entrees. Good food and a nice bar in a nice
casual setting. The Place serves casual
Italian. Suzy Q’s in Brant Lake is also
casual fare with an Adirondack motif,
Anywhere’s is a bar in Chestertown that
serves a great burger. Luna Pizza serves
homemade pizza fare – try their white
pizza….
Diamond Point-
The Inn at
Erlowest* 518-668-5928 is a magnificent
renovated mansion on "Millionaires" row. It
is fine dining in a very intimate luxurious
atmosphere. Enjoy a drink before dinner on
the porch overlooking beautiful Lake George.
Pottersville- Cafe
Adirondack 518-494-5800 is a BYOB with good food.
Ditto The Wells House, Once Upon a Moose
Cafe - 518-494-5995.
Warrensburg- The Grist Mill
518-623-8005 (only open Mother’s
Day-November 1st) in Warrensburg overlooks
the Schroon River and is a very old
renovated Grist Mill. It has very good steak
and seafood. If you have time you should
plan on having a drink in the bar area- it’s
a really nice bar- very cozy and romantic.
The Merrill Magee House in the middle of
town is a lovely historic building with good
food.
Bolton Landing- On Lake
George has a nice downtown
shopping-restaurant-bar area to park and
walk through, there is a plethora of very
good dining options;
Michael Arthurs (a
steak house with other chicken, fish, and
seafood options)
Lakeside Lodge Grill -full
fine dining menu with lots of options,
Fredericks – good food, nice variety. The
open air deck is nice in the summer.
Cate’s
Italian Garden- good Italian, and the
Ryefield for casual fun relaxed atmosphere.
Outside of Bolton is the
Algonquin- right on
the water. Fine dining upstairs and more
casual attire in the downstairs. Great
afternoon drink spot in the summer. The
Sagamore’s Hotel’s,
Club Grill (steak and
grill fine ding) at the golf course and the
main hotel’s Trillium Bis* (very fine
dining) are both good options. Its beautiful
to walk around the resorts grounds- its an
island on Lake George- you drive over their
bridge to get to it. In late spring-early
autumn Sagamore’s boat, The Morgan, does a
lunch and a dinner tour that showcases the
spectacular lake’s scenery.
Lake George- In general
Lake George Village does not have any fine
dining- a lot of casual fare and
t-shirt/trinket shops, miniature golf, etc,
etc. Long standing restaurants of note are
The Log Jam,
Mario’s, and
The Montcalm. .
On
the East side of Lake George is
The Farm
House* at the Top of the World Golf Course.
They serve a fantastic memorable menu all
grown in their own garden or from area
farms. Dining at its finest.
* denotes Sharon and Greg’s personal
favorites- all highly recommended!
